Arnold Ventures Encourages Prioritization of Fiscal Responsibility in House GOP Conference Rules
Rep. David Schweikert (R‑AZ) demonstrates laudable commitment to “the principles of tax reform without adding to the national debt”
WASHINGTON , D.C. (Nov. 14, 2024) — George Callas, executive vice president for public finance at Arnold Ventures (AV), issued the following statement as the House Republican Conference considers amendments to conference rules for the 119th Congress.
“Arnold Ventures commends Rep. David Schweikert for proposing an amendment to the House Republican Conference rules that would create a ‘Chair of the Debt Commission’ in Republican leadership for the 119th Congress. AV urges members to adopt this rule, and we stand ready to work with all members who seek to advance the principles of tax reform without adding to the national debt.”
Last month, AV joined several tax experts in a letter to the House Ways and Means Republican Tax Teams encouraging members to pair any extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) with accompanying offsets. Callas previously served as senior tax counsel for both for the Ways and Means Committee and to former Speaker Paul D. Ryan. He has been referred to as “an architect of the TCJA.”
Callas and other tax policy experts are available for comment or interview by contacting media@arnoldventures.org.
