WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 21, 2025) – Tax policy expert Scott Hodge has joined Arnold Ventures as a tax and fiscal policy fellow. Hodge brings to the organization vast experience in shaping effective federal fiscal policy that promotes national economic stability and individual opportunity and security. Hodge will be part of the Arnold Ventures public finance team, which supports high-quality research that assists policymakers in creating smart, sustainable, and equitable legislative solutions that benefit Americans.

Scott has a decades-long career crafting and implementing effective fiscal policy at the national level,” said George Callas, executive vice president of public finance at Arnold Ventures. He not only understands the intricacies and nuances of U.S. tax policy, he is also keenly aware of how potential legislation is shaped by the public debate and how to bring focus and clarity to the conversation.”

Before joining Arnold Ventures, Hodge served 23 years as president and CEO of the Tax Foundation, a leading voice in the call for more effective tax policy. In that role, Hodge led the nonprofit organization in producing research and analysis that informed taxpayers, policymakers, and policy experts in better understanding the possible impacts of proposed legislation and administrative rule changes. Hodge also co-founded the Heartland Institute.

Quality, rigorous research undoubtedly offers us the best chance to successfully draft and implement effective fiscal policy,” said Hodge. I am looking forward to working with the rest of the team at Arnold Ventures to leverage evidence and data to promote fiscal responsibility and economic opportunity.”

Hodge’s in-depth knowledge has made him one of the most sought-after voices on tax policy by lawmakers and reporters focused on the issue. He has routinely appeared on business channels such as Fox Business, CNBC, and Bloomberg, and has testified before Congress on dozens of occasions.
