Ashna Arora

Vice President of Criminal Justice Research

Ashna is responsible for developing and managing rigorous research agendas and projects to identify the root causes of some of America’s most challenging criminal justice policy problems and potential solutions to address them. Her work focuses on using high-quality causal research to identify the policy and practices most likely to deliver positive and long-lasting change.

Prior to joining Arnold Ventures, Ashna served as research director at the University of Chicago Crime Lab, which is dedicated to the designing, testing, and scaling of data-driven innovations to improve public policy responses to violent crime and unfairness within the criminal justice system.

Ashna has been published in numerous popular and academic journals, including the American Economic Journal, The Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Chicago Tribune. She received her doctorate in economics from Columbia University, a master’s in quantitative economics from the Indian Statistical Institute, and a bachelor’s in economics from Delhi University.
